Jessi Branning

“Read, read, read. Read everything -- trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You'll absorb it.
Then write. If it's good, you'll find out. If it's not, throw it out of the window.”

Notes:
  1. We will be working a great deal on writing throughout the year, but we will be especially focused on developing and refining our techniques in the first few months.
  2. The learning platform for the 8th grade class will be on Teaching/Learning Tolerance. Through this topic, I hope to not only cultivate great learners but great people as well.
  3. It is my intentions to create a global classroom where we can link with students from other countries and cultures to expand our cultural awareness through both online formats and through a pen pal program.
  4. Throughout the course of the year, we will be using sources from various news outlets, such as the New York Times. With this I hope for the students to gain a better perspective of the world around them.
